You can also open the gap tween the frame and door with a pry bar near the bolts. Open it up make a hook at one end. Depending on the model you have you may need to pry it out with a crowbar and hammer or remove it with a drill. Step 1 obtain lock.

Grab the pin with a pair of pliers to remove the pin from the shaft. However the bad news for you since you say that you ve not got a key is that you generally need a key to be able to easily take the cylinder out. Step 2 remove old lock. Place a nail over the pin and tap the nail with a hammer until you expose part of the pin.

Pull down and you should release the lockingbolts. First take a trip to your hardware store and select a new lock. Compatible with your door. Close your garage door and remove your existing garage door lock.

You can remove the lock measure it and replace it while you wait for the new one to arrive it only takes a matter of seconds with the key to remove the cylinder.
